Controls Engineer:
Burlington, MA area
Summary
Seeking a Controls Engineer to develop advanced control systems for robotic manipulators and electromechanical systems. Responsibilities include motion control, servo tuning, dynamic modeling, MATLAB simulations, and real time software implementation.
The role also involves controls related machine design analysis and the selection of actuators, sensors, and other control system components.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement control algorithms for robotic and electromechanical systems.
- Perform dynamic modeling, simulations, and system analysis using MATLAB.
- Design, tune, and troubleshoot motion control systems and filters.
- Implement control software on real time and embedded platforms.
- Support machine design analysis and selection of actuators, sensors, and related components.
- Prototype, test, and troubleshoot control systems and electronic hardware.
Required Qualifications
- Strong mathematical modeling and analytical skills.
- Knowledge of control systems theory, including PID and feedforward control.
- Hands on experience with control systems, filter design, and tuning.
- Proficiency in MATLAB.
- Experience programming in C and C++ for Linux and embedded systems.
- Familiarity with microcontrollers, sensors, prototyping, and troubleshooting
- Bachelor's degree in Computer, Mechanical, Electrical, Aeronautical, or a related engineering discipline, with at least 2 years of relevant experience, or
- Master's or Ph.D. in a related engineering discipline, with 0 to 1 year of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with state estimation and system identification.
- Knowledge of electrical and electronic system design.
- Experience with analog and digital circuit design, embedded systems, microcontroller interfaces, power electronics, and motion control.
- Familiarity with thermal modeling and analysis.
- Laboratory skills, including soldering and PCBA rework.
