Job DescriptionPosition Overview:

We are seeking an Advanced Practice Nurse to join our Float Pool. This role necessitates the application of knowledge, research, and practical experience to enhance patient care and outcomes. The ideal candidate will communicate and collaborate effectively with the healthcare team, utilize resources appropriately to address patient needs, and actively engage in discharge planning. Flexibility, along with strong clinical, organizational, and communication skills, is essential.

This advanced practice position involves the collaborative management of patients in various settings, including inpatient medical-surgical, critical care, or hybrid (ambulatory and inpatient medical/surgical) environments. The role emphasizes the integration of knowledge and experience to ensure high-quality patient care and improved outcomes. Clear and concise communication with the healthcare team is crucial, as is the ability to consult and utilize resources effectively to meet patient needs.

Float APRNs will receive an additional $10/hour specialty differential.

This position offers a competitive sign-on bonus ranging from $5,000 to $20,000, depending on experience, for candidates who have not been employed by our organization in the past two years.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conducting comprehensive history and physical examinations and interpreting the results.
• Diagnosing and managing common clinical issues within the designated patient population.
• Planning, implementing, and evaluating treatment plans collaboratively with the healthcare team.
• Ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests and therapeutic interventions to support the treatment plan, and communicating findings to the healthcare team, patients, and families.
• Engaging in discharge planning with the healthcare team.
• Documenting orders, prescriptions, and progress notes in the patient's medical record, and preparing discharge summaries for primary care providers.
• Participating in daily patient care rounds, interdisciplinary meetings, and educational activities.
• Communicating the patient's condition and care plan to patients and their families, while providing health education and counseling in collaboration with the healthcare team.
• Performing selected diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
• Engaging in both formal and informal teaching activities with nursing staff, physicians, interns, residents, and other healthcare team members.
• Maintaining clear and concise communication with the healthcare team and effectively utilizing resources to meet patient needs.
• Ensuring clinical competency and ongoing professional development through continuing education, professional activities, and self-assessment.
• Working 36 hours per week with a rotation of 50% day/night shifts and every third weekend. Float APRNs are not required to work on holidays.

Minimum Qualifications Education:

• Master of Science in Nursing

Experience:

• 1-3 years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner is preferred.
• Pediatric experience is preferred.

Licensure/Certifications:

• Current Nurse Practitioner license in Massachusetts.
• Certification as a Pediatric or Family Nurse Practitioner.
