Make a daily impact as a Special Education Teacher supporting significantly diverse learners in a vibrant learning environment. This full-time, onsite position centers on teaching in Substantially Separate Classrooms, both at the K-1 and 3rd-5th grade level. You’ll serve students with substantial cognitive and physical disabilities, some of whom are non-verbal or on the autism spectrum. Collaboration and compassion are key, as you will work alongside paraprofessionals and RBTs to deliver meaningful, evidence-based instruction and essential care.
Key Qualifications:
- Active Special Education teaching certification
- Experience teaching students with severe disabilities, including those who are non-verbal or require toileting assistance
- Knowledge of specially designed instruction methods and curriculum
- Strongly prefer experience with applied behavior analysis (ABA)
- Ability to work collaboratively with classroom teams and related service providers
- Patience, empathy, and commitment to fostering communication and independence
- Experience supporting children on the autism spectrum is highly desirable
Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver individualized instruction aligned with IEP goals for students with significant needs
- Implement behavior intervention plans and utilize ABA strategies to promote skill acquisition
- Provide personal care assistance, including toileting, as needed
- Adapt curriculum to meet diverse learning and communication styles
- Work closely with support staff, including RBTs and paraprofessionals, to maximize classroom support and student growth
- Collect data and monitor progress on student goals
- Maintain open communication with families and IEP team members
