Job DescriptionPosition Overview

The Thoracic Oncologist will take charge of the Medical Oncology segment within the Thoracic Oncology Program, collaborating closely with a team of committed specialists. This position presents a unique chance to foster program growth, engage in pioneering cancer research, and play a vital role in educating future medical oncologists.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the Medical Oncology leader for the multidisciplinary Thoracic Oncology Program.
  • Participate in the weekly tumor board focused on lung cancer.
  • Deliver patient care at our medical center and throughout the health system, with opportunities for community involvement in locations such as Stoneham, Framingham, and Lowell.
  • Collaborate on the continuous development and expansion of the Thoracic Oncology Program across the health system.
  • Share responsibilities for inpatient oncology and consult services with faculty members.
  • Engage in night and weekend coverage, supported primarily by fellows.
  • Contribute to teaching and mentoring within the fellowship training program and medical education at various levels.

Research & Academic Environment

  • Participate in innovative cancer research with access to the Neely Center for Clinical Cancer Research, supporting various studies including cooperative group, commercial, and investigator-initiated projects.
  • Engage in interdisciplinary and translational research, including advancements in cell therapy.
  • Utilize competitive funding opportunities such as NIH R01 awards and interdisciplinary collaboration programs.

Who You Are

  • A dedicated advocate for high-quality oncology care for all patients.
  • Preferred experience in industry-sponsored phase 1 research.
  • Board Eligible or Board Certified in Medical Oncology.
  • Required experience with chemotherapeutic, targeted biologic, and immunotherapeutic agents.
  • Valuable experience in clinical trial implementation and research.

Salary Information

The annual salary range for this role is between $255,670 and $331,507. Actual compensation will be determined during the selection process and will consider various factors, including academic rank, relevant experience, education, and internal equity. There is also an incentive compensation structure based on clinical productivity.
