In this impactful position, you will lead a specialized classroom dedicated to supporting students with diverse learning needs, guiding them in developing essential academic, daily living, and community participation skills as they prepare for life beyond high school.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored instruction focusing on functional academics, personal independence, daily living, and critical community skills for high school-aged students.
- Oversee all aspects of a Life Skills classroom environment, including supervising and directing paraprofessional staff.
- Create, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), establish functional goals, and oversee post-secondary transition plans.
- Foster a supportive, inclusive, and structured setting that encourages growth and confidence among students.
- Maintain clear communication with families, therapists, and school staff to ensure holistic support for each student.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Hold an active Special Education Teaching License.
- Demonstrated experience successfully running a dedicated High School Life Skills or self-contained classroom.
- Deep understanding of adaptive care strategies and transition planning for students preparing to leave high school.
- Strong organizational and leadership skills, with a history of collaborating within multidisciplinary teams.
- Commitment to high standards of educational equity and student-centered practices.
