JOB TITLE: Infusion Pharmacy Technician
SHIFT: M-F 10:30am-7pm, no weekends or holidays

JOB DESCRIPTION

Insight Global is looking to hire an Infusion Pharmacy Technician for one of their top healthcare clients in Boston, MA.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Practices as a pharmacy technician in accordance with all federal, state, organization and Joint Commission policies, regulations and standards.
2. Fills medication orders according to policy, while gaining proficiency with advanced preparations.
3. Ensures timely delivery of medication orders and/or supplies.
4. Utilizes multiple systems such as EHR (Electronic Health Record, Inventory Management Systems and other systems to complete and document duties. Identify issues and report as necessary.
5. Maintains the Pharmacy inventory: sorting, stocking, rotation of stock and expiration date checking.
6. Performs and documents quality control steps as required for safety and regulatory requirements.
7. Performs cleaning of sterile and non-sterile areas of the pharmacy as assigned.
8. Trains other employees as assigned.
9. Communicates and escalates issues or problems.
10. May be assigned to cross-cover other locations or areas (e.g. materials management, outpatient, infusion, etc.).

Infusion Specific Duties:
12. Performs sterile and non-sterile compounding of predominately hazardous drugs in compliance with USP <795>, USP <797>, USP <800>, DFCI policies and procedures and, when applicable research protocols.
13. Ensures compliance with requirements of medications within Research Protocols as assigned.
14. Maintains and supports Automated Dispensing cabinets including Federal controlled substance retrieving from Return drawer once certified.
15. Stocking emergency medication as appropriate by site.
16. Sets up and logs pharmacy batch compound products.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • High School graduate or currently enrolled in an accredited entry-level degree program for Pharmacy or a related field.
  • 2 years of pharmacy technician experience, with at least 1 year of experience of compounding experience.
  • Massachusetts Board of Pharmacy Registration as a Pharmacy Technician required.
