Two contract openings are now available for Special Education Teachers in a nurturing school environment near Bennington, VT, serving through the end of the current school year. The positions are needed immediately, with one opening focused on middle grades and the other covering PreK-5. Both roles offer the chance to support learners by bringing compassion, adaptability, and trauma-informed teaching practices to the classroom.
Qualifications/Desired Experience:
- Valid certification as a Special Education Teacher
- Trauma-informed approach to classroom management and student support
- Experience in adaptation of curriculum and individualized learning plans
- Strong communication skills for collaboration with families, staff, and administration
- Flexibility to respond to diverse student needs in either middle grades or PreK-5 settings
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive, supportive classroom environment
Responsibilities:
- Implement individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to each student’s needs
- Maintain regular communication with caregivers, support staff, and interdisciplinary teams
- Support students’ social-emotional and behavioral development with trauma-informed strategies
- Adapt teaching methods and materials to diverse learning styles and abilities
- Monitor progress, document observations, and participate in IEP meetings
- Foster a positive, safe, and structured learning environment
