Two contract paraprofessional opportunities are available—one working 1:1 with an 8th-grade student who is Autistic and nonverbal at the middle school, and another supporting a small group of high school students with IEPs integrated into the general population. This is an ideal role for compassionate, adaptable professionals who are dedicated to supporting students of varying abilities with academic, social, and personal care needs.
Key Experience & Skills:
- Previous experience as a paraprofessional or in a school setting preferred
- Ability to provide toileting, personal care, and general assistance as needed
- Comfortable supporting academic, behavioral, and social-emotional goals
- Experience working with students with developmental disabilities, especially those who are nonverbal, is highly valued
- Patience, flexibility, and excellent communication skills
- Ability to follow individualized education plans (IEPs) and collaborate with educational staff
- Reliability and professionalism in a school environment
Role Responsibilities:
- Provide dedicated support to assigned students either 1:1 or in small groups
- Assist students with personal care, daily routines, and classroom participation
- Implement strategies to foster independence, social interaction, and learning
- Communicate regularly with teachers, staff, and families as needed
- Maintain a positive and respectful atmosphere for all students
Work schedule: Monday through Friday during school hours (32.5 hours weekly from late August to mid-June, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch each day).
