Step into a rewarding role supporting young learners at a vibrant 5th/6th grade school with a dynamic special education program. Here, you'll find an energetic team of educators led by a principal who is deeply rooted in special education. This contract position places you in a close-knit school community of about 100 students, with a caseload of approximately 22 children identified with mild to moderate specific learning disabilities—primarily in math and literacy. You'll work collaboratively alongside a full-time interventionist and an SEL counselor to design and implement targeted, impactful instruction.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Current certification in Special Education
- Experience working with elementary or middle-grade students with mild to moderate SLDs
- Strong background in math and literacy interventions
- Ability to develop, monitor, and modify IEPs
- Collaborative approach with staff, families, and support personnel
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Positive, growth-oriented mindset with flexibility and creativity
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver differentiated instruction to meet individual student learning needs
- Write, update, and implement IEPs in partnership with a supportive administrative team
- Track student progress and adjust interventions as needed
- Foster positive relationships with students and encourage their social-emotional development
- Coordinate with classroom teachers, interventionists, and the SEL counselor to ensure continuity of support
- Engage with families and caregivers to support student growth
- Participate in team meetings and professional development
