LONG TERM CARE EXPERIENCE A PLUS!!

The Recreation Assistant assists in the planning, organizing, and directing activity programs for residents. Recreation may include sports, dramatics, nature study, social recreation, games outings, and arts and crafts in accord with resident’s needs. The Recreation Assistant prepares reports on the residents’ progress as may be required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Assists in planning and promoting recreation based on the needs and interests of the resident.

· Encourages social communication through group recreation

· Provides programs of sensory training, reality orientation, demotivation, and resocialization on an individual and group basis.

· Assists residents with participation in religious programs.

· Interview residents and family members to obtain information on residents. (likes, dislikes)

· Communication with other departments when there is an activity and when they are running late.

· Assists residents with leisure recreation.

· Visits residents and non-participants and provides appropriate recreation services.

· Observe resident attendance, mood, behavior, and degree of involvement so that facility activities and resident progress are evaluated.

· Assist with memory and music residents

· Assist with monthly news letter

· Assists with the recreation calendar.

· Documents resident attendance, and participation level, at recreation programs; may assist with maintaining pertinent card files and writing progress notes, if applicable.

· Attends appropriate in-service training programs.

· Assists in the maintenance, storage, and use of the recreation department supplies.

· Assists with set up of volunteer program and appreciation.

· Assists with transporting residents to and from recreation programs. (including meals)

· Assists with resident council’s purpose, attendance, and outcomes.

· Facilitates community interaction programs.

· Puts customer service first.

· Ensures that residents and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere which recognizes the individuals’ needs and rights.

· Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor

· Helps set up main dining room for meals

· Helps pour drinks in the restorative dining area on North Wing

· Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures

· Follow all HIPPA Guidelines

· Care for multiple residents in the facility

· Observe Residents Rights

· Report any sign of any type of abuse

· Put Resident Service First: Ensure that residents and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere which recognizes the individuals needs and rights.

· Preforms other duties as requested
