Retail Team Member
Location: Newburyport or Ipswich, MA
Schedule: Monday–Saturday
Position: Retail Team Member
The Natural Grocer is looking for a friendly, reliable, and personable retail team member to join our local neighborhood grocery store. We’re a place where customers know our staff by name, and building genuine relationships with the people in our community is a big part of what makes us special.
This position is about much more than running a register. You’ll get to know our customers, learn about the products we carry, and become a knowledgeable and trusted part of their shopping experience.
What You’ll Do
- Welcome customers and provide warm, friendly service.
- Operate the cash register accurately and efficiently.
- Build relationships with regular customers and become a familiar face in the community.
- Learn our extensive product selection, including:

- Vitamins and supplements
- Natural and gourmet foods
- Specialty products
- Fresh flowers
- Gifts and other unique items
- Answer customer questions and help shoppers find the products they need.
- Stock shelves and maintain an organized, attractive store.
- Receive and put away merchandise.
- Help with displays, flowers, gifts, and seasonal products.
- Clean and maintain the store throughout your shift.
- Work closely with your coworkers to keep the store running smoothly.
The Right Person
We’re looking for someone who:
- Is friendly, outgoing, and genuinely enjoys interacting with people.
- Has excellent customer-service skills.
- Is dependable, responsible, and a strong team player.
- Enjoys learning about food, wellness, natural products, and specialty items.
- Is comfortable talking with customers and building relationships.
- Takes pride in keeping a store clean, organized, and welcoming.
- Can stand and be active for the entire shift and is comfortable with regular lifting, stocking, and cleaning.
- Enjoys being part of a close-knit local community.
- Is willing to work at either our Newburyport or Ipswich location.
