Cannabis Labeling Technician
Department: Production Reports To: Production Manager FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Position Summary
The Cannabis Labeling Technician is responsible for accurately labeling cannabis products in compliance with state regulations and company standards. This role ensures all products are properly identified, tracked, and prepared for distribution while maintaining quality, efficiency, and strict adherence to regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Apply labels to cannabis products, including flower, concentrates, edibles, and packaged goods, in accordance with company SOPs and Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission (CCC) regulations
- Verify all label information for accuracy, including batch numbers, potency, warning statements, and compliance symbols
- Ensure all products are labeled in accordance with Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission requirements
- Maintain organization and cleanliness of labeling and packaging workstations (GMP standards)
- Assist with product staging, packaging, and final preparation for shipment
- Perform quality checks to ensure labels are applied correctly, legibly, and consistently
- Report discrepancies, damaged goods, or compliance concerns to a supervisor immediately
- Accurately track product movement using inventory systems (e.g., METRC or internal systems)
- Meet daily production and labeling quotas while maintaining accuracy
- Follow all safety protocols, including proper PPE use and sanitation procedures
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Previous experience in manufacturing, packaging, or labeling preferred (cannabis experience a plus)
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to follow strict regulatory guidelines and SOPs
- Basic computer skills for inventory tracking systems
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, repetitive environment
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods (8+ hours)
- Repetitive hand and wrist movements
- Ability to lift and move up to 25–50 lbs
- Good vision and attention to detail for reading small print
Work Environment
- Production/manufacturing environment within a cannabis facility
- May include exposure to strong odors and allergens
- Requires use of PPE (gloves, hairnets, safety glasses, etc.)
Compliance Requirements
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- Must be able to obtain and maintain an active Massachusetts Agent Registration through the Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission
- Must pass a background check in accordance with state regulations
