Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A contract position is available for a Sign Language Interpreter specializing in telehealth services within an educational setting. This role is based in Braintree, MA, and focuses on providing high-quality communication access for students requiring American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation during remote learning sessions and related telehealth interactions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate clear and accurate sign language interpretation during telehealth meetings, virtual classrooms, and other remote educational activities.
- Collaborate with educators, healthcare providers, and support staff to ensure effective communication for deaf or hard-of-hearing students.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in all interactions.
- Adapt to varying technical platforms and troubleshoot interpretation equipment as necessary.
- Support students’ access to curriculum by interpreting lectures, discussions, and related school materials in real-time.
Desired Qualifications:
- Proficient fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) and English.
- Previous experience as a sign language interpreter within school or telehealth settings.
- Familiarity with telecommunication platforms commonly used for remote learning and healthcare (e.g., Zoom, Microsoft Teams).
- Strong understanding of educational and healthcare terminology.
- Excellent communication skills and professionalism.
