Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Prior experience as a paraprofessional, especially in elementary or autism program settings, is highly preferred
- Capability to follow educational plans and individualized student support strategies
- Strong communication skills—able to collaborate effectively with teachers, specialists, and other staff
- Demonstrated patience, empathy, and adaptability in working with students of diverse backgrounds or capabilities
- Reliable, punctual, and able to maintain professional boundaries at all times
- Open to feedback and ongoing learning within the school environment
Responsibilities:
- Provide daily support to students in intensive autism programs
- Assist with instructional activities, classroom routines, and reinforcement of behavioral or academic goals
- Support safe transitions, meal times, and play, ensuring a positive and inclusive learning environment
- Document relevant student observations and contribute to progress notes as requested
- Collaborate with teaching staff and participate in trainings or meetings as needed
- Foster a welcoming atmosphere, encouraging student independence and growth
This contract position runs from September 2026 through June 2027, with full-time hours (32.5–35 per week) in elementary programs. You’ll build invaluable hands-on experience in a supportive school setting, while making a real difference for students and their families.
