You’ll take on a key role not only as a classroom teacher but also as an advocate—designing and delivering meaningful instruction, ensuring compliance with educational standards, and collaborating closely with families and school teams. This contract position is onsite, fostering professional growth and daily engagement with students and colleagues.
Desired Experience & Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education teaching certification, or eligibility to obtain one for the assignment period
- Experience teaching Life Skills classes and/or working with students with varied developmental and academic needs
- Demonstrated success in serving as a case manager—IEP development, progress monitoring, and coordinating supports
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to partnering with staff and families
- Flexibility to address a range of student abilities in both middle and high school settings
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach four Life Skills classes and one 8th-grade Learning Lab, providing differentiated instruction based on individual student needs
- Manage all aspects of the case management process, including IEP documentation, progress reporting, and compliance
- Participate actively in multi-disciplinary teams, engaging with counselors, therapists, and staff to ensure holistic support
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and structured classroom environment to promote skill-building and independence
- Maintain clear, consistent communication with parents and guardians
