Job DescriptionPosition Overview

We are seeking a Nurse Practitioner (APRN) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join our Pediatric Intermediate Care Unit (PIMCU). This role involves serving as the primary healthcare provider within the PIMCU team, ensuring the delivery of safe and high-quality clinical care. You will collaborate with physicians, pediatric trainees, and nursing staff to enhance patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive clinical care to infants, children, and adolescents with acute or chronic medical conditions that require intensive support outside of the ICU.
• Work closely with the supervising physician to perform detailed patient assessments, gather medical histories, conduct physical examinations, and diagnose health and developmental issues.
• Engage actively in medical rounds within the PIMCU, contributing to the presentation, development, and execution of evidence-based treatment plans.
• Participate in quality improvement and research initiatives as opportunities arise.
• Thrive in a dynamic inpatient setting that necessitates collaboration with various consulting teams and interdisciplinary colleagues.
• Commit to per diem shifts of 12 hours, with a minimum of 4 shifts every 6 weeks, including at least one 'off shift' (weekend, night, or holiday).

Minimum Qualifications Education

• Master’s degree in Nursing or Physician Assistant Studies.

Experience

• At least 2 years of inpatient pediatric experience is required, with a preference for candidates who have worked with higher acuity or complex patients.
• Preferred: 1+ year of experience as a Pediatric NP or PA.
• New graduate nurse practitioners with recent pediatric inpatient RN experience (ideally 2 years) in a similar patient population will also be considered.

Licensure/Certifications

• A valid Massachusetts NP license (PNP preferred, but FNP with pediatric experience will be considered) or PA license is required.
• BLS certification is required; PALS certification is strongly preferred.
