Role Description The Deli Clerk is a full-time, on-site role located at Lambert’s Farm Market in Sandwich, MA. This role includes preparing and slicing deli meats and cheeses, making sandwiches and other deli items, and ensuring all food is handled safely and presented attractively. The Deli Clerk assists customers at the counter, answers questions about products, takes orders in person and by phone, and provides courteous, efficient service. Additional responsibilities include restocking deli cases, maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in work areas, following food safety and hygiene guidelines, and supporting team members as needed. The role also involves operating deli equipment, handling cash or point-of-sale transactions, and helping create a welcoming environment for customers.

Qualifications

- Strong Customer Service and Customer Satisfaction skills, with a friendly, professional manner when interacting with customers.
- Experience or aptitude in Food Preparation and Food Service, including safe handling, slicing, and presenting deli products.
- Clear and polite Phone Etiquette for taking orders and answering customer questions.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, lift and move products, and work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Basic math and cash-handling skills, familiar with point-of-sale systems or willing to learn.
- Knowledge of or willingness to learn food safety, sanitation, and allergen-awareness practices.
- Prior experience in a deli, grocery, or food service setting is helpful but not required; on-the-job training may be provided.
- Reliable attendance, flexibility to work weekends and holidays, and strong communication and interpersonal skills.
