We are seeking an experienced Electrical Test Engineer to support the development and validation of next-generation hardware systems within a research and development environment. You will focus on test development, system validation, and reliability testing during the design phase, ensuring that products meet performance and reliability targets before they reach production.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional engineering teams to define comprehensive test strategies for new hardware systems.
  • Develop, document, and execute detailed test plans aligned with product requirements and design specifications.
  • Design, build, and refine hardware test fixtures to support repeatable and reliable testing of electronic systems.
  • Perform hands-on electrical and hardware testing in a lab environment using industry-standard test equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and debug complex electronic and control systems down to the component level.
  • Collect, organize, and analyze test data to assess product performance, identify issues, and validate design changes.
  • Document test procedures, results, and findings in a clear and structured manner for technical audiences.
  • Communicate test outcomes, issues, and recommendations to stakeholders and engineering teams.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of testing methodologies, tools, and best practices within the lab.
  • Support reliability testing activities and validation methodologies during iterative design and development cycles.
  • Translate product and system requirements into actionable, measurable test strategies and test cases.
  • Work effectively in a fast-paced R&D environment, adapting test plans and approaches as requirements evolve.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4+ years of hands-on hardware testing or validation experience in an R&D or product development environment.
  • Strong experience with electrical testing using industry-standard electrical test equipment.
  • Proficiency with oscilloscopes, digital multimeters (DMM), signal generators, and data acquisition systems.

  • Board-level soldering and rework experience, including SMD components.
  • Experience working in lab environments and executing structured test procedures.
  • Familiarity with reliability testing, validation methodologies, and data collection practices.
  • Experience working with Linux/Unix systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills in a technical context.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills for technical audiences.
  • Ability to translate product and system requirements into actionable test strategies.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with scripting for test automation and data processing.
  • Proficiency with Python for test scripting and analysis.
  • Experience using MATLAB for data analysis, visualization, or test automation.
  • Exposure to RF testing and related measurement techniques.
  • Experience influencing test strategy, tooling, and engineering best practices.
  • Comfort working across multiple hardware platforms and technologies in an R&D setting.
  • Interest in continuous learning and staying current with emerging test tools and methodologies.

Work Environment

This role is primarily on-site and lab-based, with significant hands-on testing responsibilities. You will work in a collaborative engineering environment with close interaction between hardware, software, and program teams. The position offers a mix of independent lab work of approximately 60% and cross-functional collaboration and meetings of about 20–25%. The setting is fast-paced and research-driven, with evolving requirements and iterative testing cycles. You will work with a wide variety of tools, technologies, and hardware platforms, with a strong emphasis on practical problem solving, experimentation, and rapid validation.
