Position Summary
We are seeking a qualified Certified Athletic Trainer to support the Optimizing Human Weapon System (OHWS) Program at the Vermont Air National Guard.
The Athletic Trainer will work directly with fighter aircrew to help prevent injuries, improve recovery, and enhance physical readiness for high-performance flight operations. This role focuses on musculoskeletal health, injury prevention, rehabilitation support, and pre- and post-flight care.
Minimum Qualifications

Current Athletic Trainer certification (BOC or equivalent)

Current Vermont Athletic Trainer license or ability to obtain prior to employment

Current CPR/AED certification

Experience evaluating musculoskeletal conditions and functional movement

Experience developing rehabilitation and injury-prevention programs

Knowledge of neck, shoulder, spine, and lower back conditions

Strong communication and documentation skills

Ability to maintain confidential medical information

Ability to obtain and maintain access to the Vermont Air National Guard installation
Preferred Experience
-
Military, tactical, collegiate, or professional sports environment
-
Manual therapy and soft tissue treatment techniques
-
High-performance or sports medicine programs
Essential Duties

Conduct physical and functional movement assessments
-
Develop individualized rehabilitation and injury-prevention plans
-
Provide pre-flight warm-up and post-flight recovery support
-
Perform athletic training services within the authorized scope of practice

Monitor progress and modify treatment plans as needed

Identify conditions requiring referral to medical providers
-
Maintain accurate and confidential client records
-
Prepare required reports and documentation
-
Educate participants on injury prevention, recovery, sleep, nutrition, and overall wellness
-
Maintain a safe, organized, and professional treatment environment
Employment Requirements
Selected candidates must successfully complete all required background screening, installation access requirements, and mandatory training before beginning work.
