Key Qualifications and Experience Desired:
- Valid certification in Special Education
- Experience working with students who have severe disabilities, including both cognitive and physical needs
- Familiarity with supporting students on the autism spectrum, including non-verbal learners
- Comfort with assisting in toileting and personal care as needed
- Preferred: background in specially designed instruction and applied behavior analysis
- Ability to collaborate effectively with classroom staff, RBTs, and related service providers
- Commitment to inclusive, compassionate education in a K-5 setting
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver specially designed instruction within substantially separate classrooms for K-1st and 3rd-5th grade students
- Employ individualized strategies and communication supports for non-verbal students
- Collaborate with Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs), paraprofessionals, and multidisciplinary teams
- Provide a positive, structured, and supportive learning environment
- Assist with toileting and promote independence in self-care skills
- Track and report on student progress, work with IEP teams, and adjust instructional approaches as needed
