Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Operating Room RN to provide perioperative patient care, support daily OR operations, and serve as a clinical resource for staff.
Required Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing; BSN preferred.

Minimum 12 months of Operating Room RN experience.

Current and active Massachusetts RN license.

Current BLS certification.

Strong Operating Room nursing experience with safe and effective perioperative patient care skills.

Strong assessment, critical-thinking, clinical judgment, and patient-monitoring skills.

Ability to communicate effectively in English, verbally and in writing.

Ability to work with and utilize lead apron/PPE as required.

Ability to fulfill applicable on-call requirements.

Ability to function effectively as a charge nurse and resource for staff.

Strong knowledge of hospital policies, nursing standards, patient safety, infection control, and documentation requirements.
Preferred Qualifications

BSN.

Experience serving as a charge nurse or clinical resource.

Experience with staff orientation, education, and development.
Responsibilities
-
Provide comprehensive nursing care to Operating Room patients using the nursing process.
-
Assess and document patients' physical, psychological, and social needs.
-
Administer medications and monitor patient responses according to hospital policies.
-
Coordinate daily Operating Room activities with the Nurse Manager and Department of Anesthesia.

Assist with supervision of personnel and departmental operations.
-
Serve as a charge nurse and resource for patient care, staff orientation, education, and clinical support.
-
Assist with staff development, education, and identification of department/unit needs.
-
Ensure availability and control of supplies, materials, equipment, and medications.

Maintain and monitor medication inventory, including Pyxis control and maintenance.

Participate in quality-improvement activities and monitor the quality and appropriateness of patient care.

Accurately document assessments, interventions, medications, patient responses, and care plans in the electronic medical record.

Demonstrate proficiency with computerized nursing information systems and applicable hospital technology.

Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with hospital policies and regulatory requirements.

Follow safety, blood/body-fluid, infection-control, and patient-care policies.

Maintain current knowledge of nursing techniques, regulations, and age-appropriate patient care practices.

Participate in ongoing professional development and maintain required competencies.

Collaborate with physicians, anesthesia staff, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams.

Maintain a high standard of customer service and professional conduct.

Perform additional duties as assigned by the Nurse Manager or supervisor.
