Qualifications:

- A.S. Degree preferred, but not required.
- Advanced registration in CAT Scan or Mammography is optional but preferred.
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification preferred; must obtain within one year of hire.
- Massachusetts License to practice Radiologic Technology required.
- CPR Certification required.
- Ability to read and communicate effectively in English; additional languages preferred.
- Strong written and verbal skills.
- Basic computer knowledge.

Job Responsibilities:
\n
- \n
- Ensure all CT scans and Mammography exams include accurate demographic information, proper image density, contrast, and reconstructed images for high-quality results.
- Perform daily CT and Mammography QA and record data to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Operate the hospital PACS system to ensure all images (Mammography, CT, and Radiography) are transmitted with accurate data for radiologist readings.
- Coordinate the merging, moving, and retrieval of studies between servers.
- Follow pre-determined image criteria to assess radiographs for proper patient positioning and comprehensive anatomical information.
- Ensure radiographs include markers, demographic information, and proper image density and contrast.
- Operate diagnostic equipment for proper image quality including general diagnostic, fluoroscopic, portable, and surgical equipment.
- Assess patients for optimum exposure techniques.
- Take precautions for women of childbearing age to determine pregnancy and minimize exposure to radiation if needed.
- Determine appropriate techniques for body parts to be radiographed ensuring quality radiographs.
- Utilize collimation, safety measures, and protective devices appropriately.
- Review physician orders to ensure the correct examination is based on the clinical history provided.
- Accurately enter orders and procedures into the Meditech Computer System.
- Maintain a safe environment by ensuring that potentially harmful objects are not accessible to children.
- Ensure the environment is free of hazards that may cause patient falls, slips, or trips; make assistive devices readily available.
- Be aware of hearing difficulties in older patients and adjust communication methods accordingly.
- Interpret and respond to verbal and nonverbal responses regarding pain management.
- Take actions to ensure the physical security of children, complying with policies related to the prevention of abduction.
- Accommodate reduced endurance and strength in elderly patients by providing appropriate seating arrangements.
