Job Description

Our client is seeking a Product Development Scientist to lead formulation and development of specialized nutritional beverages and powders. This role blends food science, ingredient functionality, clinical evidence support, and GMP‑compliant product development from concept through commercialization.

You will work cross‑functionally with R&D, clinical, marketing, and operations teams to bring innovative medical nutrition products to market while ensuring quality, safety, and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Manage vendor relationships and source compliant ingredients.
  • Ensure adherence to GMP, food safety, and workplace safety standards.
  • Support development of clinical evidence for new and existing products.
  • Develop and optimize medical nutrition beverage and powder formulations to meet nutritional, sensory, and stability requirements.
  • Apply ingredient science, food chemistry, and processing knowledge to support new product development and reformulation initiatives.
  • Conduct bench‑level formulation, testing, troubleshooting, and prototype development.
  • Partner with cross‑functional teams to align product design with patient needs, clinical goals, and business strategy.
  • Research and evaluate new ingredients, technologies, and medical nutrition opportunities.
  • Present scientific and clinical findings at conferences and clinician meetings as needed.
  • Contribute to intellectual property protection for formulations, processes, and ingredients.

Qualifications (Must-Haves)

  • Experience conducting shelf‑life and stability studies.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to collaborate across R&D, clinical, marketing, and operations teams.
  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Nutrition, or related field (Master's preferred; PhD/PharmD a plus)
  • 5+ years of hands‑on product development experience in food, beverage, nutrition, supplement, nutraceutical, or medical nutrition environments.
  • Proven experience with formulation, ingredient functionality, nutrient stability, and processing impacts.
  • Strong understanding of GMPs, FDA regulations, and food safety systems (EU exposure a plus)
