Job DescriptionPosition Overview / Department Overview:
This role involves overseeing the delivery of clinical services by the respiratory care and ECMO teams. The supervisor will assess patient volume and acuity to ensure adherence to departmental quality assurance and improvement standards for patient care. Additionally, the position includes providing direct patient care and consultation in respiratory care and ECMO services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversees the work of Respiratory Therapists and ECMO Specialists across various clinical programs and environments.
- Evaluates staff performance, offers guidance, and implements disciplinary actions when necessary to enhance performance.
- Manages the operations of the Respiratory Care Department and ECMO Program, ensuring adequate staffing, equipment, and resources are maintained.
- Delivers both direct and consultative respiratory care and extracorporeal life support.
- Provides leadership in the formulation and assessment of clinical practices, technical procedures, and departmental protocols, while fostering professionalism.
- Engages in quality improvement projects and represents the department in clinical program discussions.
Minimum Qualifications Work Experience Required:
A minimum of four years of clinical experience as a licensed respiratory therapist is required, including at least three years in a pediatric specialty. Completion of extracorporeal membrane oxygenation training is necessary, along with one to two years of experience as an Associate ECMO Specialist.
Education:
An Associate's Degree and a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field are mandatory. A Bachelor's or Master's Degree is preferred, with a focus on Respiratory Therapy.
Licensure / Certifications:
A current Massachusetts license as a Respiratory Therapist is essential.
