Description\n

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring 2+ years of experience and a NH or compact RN license.

Details\n

    \n
  • Work in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU)/IMCU at a Level 3 trauma center
  • \n

  • Patient population includes primary medical cases, respiratory failure, infections, CHF, and arrhythmias
  • \n

  • 1:4 patient ratio on an 8-bed unit
  • \n

  • 12-hour night shift, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, 36 hours per week
  • \n

  • Every other weekend required
  • \n

  • Schedule is set every 6 weeks with no self-scheduling
  • \n

  • No floating or charge nurse responsibilities required
  • \n

  • Uses specialized equipment including chest tubes, epidurals, CAPD, NICO (Cheetah), and radial/femoral compression devices
  • \n

  • IV pumps by ICU Medical, Hi Flow by Vapotherm, Bipap by Philips, and cardiac monitors by Philips
  • \n

  • Performs infusions and titrations for medications such as amiodarone, Cardizem, and Lasix
  • \n

  • Performs and reads EKGs, phlebotomy, IV starts, and central line care, maintenance, and removal
  • \n

  • Assists with bedside procedures including chest tube and central line placement
  • \n

Requirements\n

    \n
  • Active NH or compact RN license required in hand
  • \n

  • Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience required
  • \n

  • Prior travel nursing experience required
  • \n

  • BLS certification (AHA) required
  • \n

  • BSN preferred
  • \n

  • PCCN certification preferred
  • \n

  • Must be competent in high flow and BiPap respiratory equipment
  • \n

  • Must be separated from Beth Israel Lahey Health facilities for 6+ months to be eligible
  • \n

  • COVID vaccine plus booster and flu vaccine required, with medical exemptions allowed
  • \n

  • Pass/fail Tele/ECG and medication testing required
  • \n

Additional Information\n

  • Assess, evaluate, and provide PCU-level care to patients with complex medical needs
  • \n

  • Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility are not accepted
  • \n

  • Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible for consideration
  • \n

  • First-time travelers are not eligible for this position
  • \n

  • Previous Beth Israel Lahey Health employees (travel, perm, or per diem) must have a 6-month break before returning
  • \n

  • RTO must be disclosed prior to consideration
  • \n

  • Interview will be conducted directly with the hiring manager
