Position Overview:
The Maintenance Lead is responsible for overseeing daily maintenance operations within a medical device manufacturing environment. This role ensures production equipment, facilities, and support systems operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory and quality requirements. The Maintenance Lead provides hands-on technical support, coordinates preventive maintenance activities, and assists in leading maintenance technicians to minimize downtime and support production goals.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and support daily activities of the maintenance team.
- Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain manufacturing equipment, automation systems, and facility systems.
- Coordinate and perform preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
- Respond to equipment breakdowns and production support requests in a timely manner.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and equipment logs.
- Assist with installation, validation, and qualification of new equipment.
- Ensure compliance with FDA, ISO 13485, GMP, OSHA, and company safety requirements.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to reduce downtime and improve equipment reliability.
- Work closely with Production, Engineering, Quality, and Facilities teams.
- Monitor spare parts inventory and assist with ordering replacement components.
- Train, supervise and mentor maintenance technicians on equipment and procedures.
- Participate in audits and support corrective actions as needed.
- Ensure proper lockout/tagout and safe maintenance practices are followed.
Qualifications and Skills:
- 5+ years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Prior lead or supervisory experience preferred.
- Experience in medical device, pharmaceutical, or regulated manufacturing preferred.
- Strong mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience working with PLCs, automation systems, and production equipment.
- Ability to read schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Proficiency with CMMS systems and Microsoft Office.
Education: Associate degree or technical certification in Maintenance, Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial Technology, or related field preferred.
Physical Requirements
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work around manufacturing equipment and machinery.
• May require occasional overtime or weekend support.
Work Environment
• Fast-paced medical device manufacturing environment.
• Requires adherence to cleanroom, safety, and quality procedures where applicable.
