You'll work 30+ hours per week, offering hands-on assistance both in the classroom and one-on-one with students. Your primary focus will be supporting students with diverse needs, including those in intensive autism classrooms, while also providing valuable aid to teachers and contributing to a collaborative learning atmosphere.
Qualifications & Experience Sought:
- Previous experience as a paraprofessional or in a support role within a school is highly valued
- Familiarity with elementary-age children and the ability to build positive relationships
- Experience assisting students with special needs, including autism, in either inclusion or specialized classroom settings
- Strong communication skills and a patient, positive demeanor
- Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, staff, and families
- Commitment to maintaining an organized, engaging, and inclusive classroom environment
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct assistance to students, both individually and in small groups
- Support students with a range of needs, including those within intensive autism programs
- Help implement educational and behavioral plans as directed by classroom teachers
- Assist with daily classroom routines and activities
- Foster a supportive, inclusive atmosphere conducive to learning
- Monitor and document student progress and provide feedback to the teaching team
