Packaging Technician – Food Production (Day Shift)

Pay: $16.00/hour

Shift: 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM

About the role

Do you like working with machines, fixing problems and keeping things running smoothly? As a Packaging Technician in our Cup Packout department, you’ll be responsible for keeping all the line equipment running continuously and trouble-free. You’ll own your equipment, spot problems before they cause delays, and help keep production on schedule.

What you’ll do

• Perform daily maintenance on all Packout line equipment
• Repair breakdowns during normal production
• Make proactive line adjustments to prevent lost processing time
• Do ongoing preventative maintenance to eliminate or reduce future downtime
• Learn all aspects of the processing line equipment and teach others the key primary adjustments
• Spot product variations and set up machinery promptly
• Take a proactive approach to cutting lost time between production runs
• Communicate regularly with Maintenance and your Lead to discuss and resolve anything slowing down the line
• Take on other assigned duties with similar skills and work conditions

Ownership and accountability

• Understand how downtime and inefficient processing affect production
• Know how to respond quickly to keep downtime to a minimum
• Get ahead of possible downtime problems before they happen
• Take responsibility for equipment-related downtime on your line: your equipment, your downtime

What we’re looking for

• A one-year certificate from a college or technical school, OR 1–2 years of related experience and/or training, OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Good written and verbal communication skills in English, as they relate to the role
• The ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
• The ability to follow a wide variety of technical instructions in math or diagram form, and to work with several abstract and concrete variables
