Job Description:
The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for optimizing fabrication and production processes, including Laser CNC operations, bending, welding, grinding, industrial coatings, and electrical integration. This role focuses on improving efficiency, reducing cycle times, and enhancing product quality through process development and continuous improvement initiatives. The position plays a key role in implementing cost-effective manufacturing methods, maintaining accurate documentation, and supporting technology advancements in a mission-driven environment producing armored vehicles for high-risk operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methods based on product design, materials, and equipment capabilities
- Lead process improvement and cost-reduction initiatives across fabrication, coating, and assembly operations
- Evaluate tools and equipment, monitor performance metrics such as Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), and recommend improvements
- Design and implement tooling solutions, including fixtures, work holding, and gauges
- Estimate production times and costs to support planning and decision-making
- Drive quality improvements through root-cause analysis, corrective actions, and preventative measures
- Manage projects, process improvements, and issue resolution in a timely and effective manner
- Support engineering documentation, including SolidWorks models, drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOMs)
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum 2+ years of Manufacturing Engineering experience (4+ years preferred)
- Strong background in CNC plasma, welding, metal forming, and assembly processes
- Experience with lean manufacturing principles, including Kaizen, Kanban, Visual Management, and value stream mapping
- Proven ability to evaluate and justify capital equipment investments
- Proficiency in SolidWorks or similar CAD software preferred
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills
- Experience in fixture, work holding, and gauge design preferred
