Description:

We are seeking a Research Technician to support laboratory testing and R&D activities in a hands-on technical environment. This role performs moderately complex laboratory activities with a high degree of autonomy and supports the generation of reliable, timely analytical data for R&D and business stakeholders.

The Research Technician will work closely with engineers, analytical scientists, and internal customers to execute testing, troubleshoot technical issues, analyze results, and help maintain laboratory equipment and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform analytical testing using established methods to characterize materials and products.
  • Conduct laboratory experiments in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs) and specific test instructions.
  • Support the development of new methods and improvement of existing testing techniques.
  • Contribute to the creation and updating of SOPs in collaboration with project leaders.
  • Collect, document, analyze, and report test data accurately and in accordance with established policies.
  • Use Excel and other computer-based tools to chart, graph, analyze, and present results.
  • Work with engineers, analytical scientists, and internal customers to address technical questions and testing requests.
  • Troubleshoot non-routine testing needs and adapt established methods when appropriate.
  • Set up, calibrate, troubleshoot, and perform preventive maintenance on laboratory equipment.
  • Coordinate with external service providers and vendors as needed to resolve equipment issues and minimize downtime.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate documentation of laboratory activities and results.
  • Follow proper laboratory safety practices, including safe chemical handling.
  • Support specialized R&D assignments involving testing, analysis, process improvement, equipment operation, and problem-solving.
  • Communicate technical information and results effectively with a wide variety of employees and stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • 1–5 years of experience in a technician, testing, laboratory, quality, or similar technical environment.
  • High school diploma or GED required; associate degree is a plus.
  • Hands-on experience with general laboratory tasks and proper chemical handling.
  • Ability to perform experiments and analytical testing by following SOPs and detailed instructions.
  • Experience troubleshooting, maintaining, calibrating, or working with laboratory equipment is preferred.
  • Strong computer skills are required, including proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Ability to accurately document work, analyze data, and communicate results.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy and integrity.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with engineers, scientists, customers, vendors, and other employees.
