Job DescriptionPosition Overview:

We are seeking an Advanced Practice Nurse to join our Float Pool within the Critical Care department. This role necessitates the application of knowledge, research, and practical experience to enhance patient care and outcomes. The ideal candidate will effectively communicate and collaborate with the healthcare team, utilize resources appropriately to address patient needs, and actively engage in discharge planning. Flexibility, along with strong clinical, organizational, and communication skills, is essential.

Float Pool APRNs will receive an additional $10 per hour for clinical assignments within the Float Pool.

This position includes a competitive sign-on bonus ranging from $5,000 to $20,000, depending on experience, for those who have not been employed by our organization in the past two years.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Conducting comprehensive history and physical examinations and interpreting the results.
• Diagnosing and managing prevalent clinical issues within the designated patient population.
• Collaborating in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of treatment plans in an interdisciplinary context.
• Ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests and therapeutic interventions to support the patient’s treatment plan, and effectively communicating these findings to the healthcare team, patients, and their families.
• Engaging in discharge planning alongside the healthcare team.
• Documenting orders, prescriptions, and progress notes in the patient's medical record, as well as creating discharge summaries for primary care providers.
• Participating in daily patient care rounds, interdisciplinary meetings, and educational activities.
• Communicating the patient’s condition and care plan to both the patient and their family, while providing health education and counseling in collaboration with the healthcare team.
• Performing designated diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
• Involving in both formal and informal educational initiatives with nursing staff, physicians, interns, residents, and other healthcare professionals.
• Maintaining clear and concise communication with the healthcare team and effectively utilizing resources to meet patient needs.
• Ensuring clinical competency and ongoing professional growth through continuing education, professional involvement, and self-assessment.
• Working 36 hours per week, exclusively during day shifts (no night shifts), and every third weekend. Additionally, Float APRNs will not be required to work on hospital holidays.

Minimum Qualifications: Education:

• Master of Science in Nursing

Experience:

• Preferred: 3+ years of experience as a Critical Care Nurse Practitioner
• Preferred: Experience in pediatrics

Licensure/Certifications:

• Current Nurse Practitioner license in Massachusetts
• Certification as a Pediatric or Family Nurse Practitioner
