  1. Educational and Skills requirements:
    1. High school diploma or GED required; technical training, trade school, or equivalent work experience preferred.
    2. 5+ years of light manual machining, welding, fabrication, maintenance, or manufacturing support experience.
    3. Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot equipment, fixtures, tooling, and facility-related issues with limited supervision.
    4. Ability to read and interpret drawings, sketches, measurements, routers, work instructions, and preventive maintenance documentation.
    5. Basic computer skills required; Microsoft Office and CAD experience preferred.
    6. A valid state-issued driver's license is required.
  2. Reports To: Maintenance Assistant Manager

  1. Primary responsibility: Independently fabricate, modify, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain fixtures, equipment, and facility systems to support production, quality, safety, and continuous improvement objectives.

  1. Essential functions of the position (not limited to tasks listed):

Equipment & Fixture Fabrication

  1. Fabricate new fixtures, tooling, guards, brackets, and equipment components from engineering drawings, sketches, verbal instructions, or existing samples.
  2. Modify and improve existing jigs, fixtures, and support equipment to improve safety, usability, quality, or production efficiency.
  3. Set up and safely operate machine shop equipment, welding equipment, hand tools, and power tools within assigned capabilities.

Project Management & Documentation

  1. Plan, prioritize, and complete assigned fabrication, repair, and improvement projects with limited supervision.
  2. Maintain accurate records of upcoming, in-process, and completed work, including parts used, work performed, and status updates.
  3. Complete required Microspec documentation including routers, logs, records, preventive maintenance forms, and project notes.

Maintenance & Repair

  1. Troubleshoot, repair, adjust, and upgrade manufacturing equipment, support equipment, and facility systems as requested.
  2. Perform scheduled preventive maintenance per documented procedures and identify follow-up work needed to maintain equipment reliability.
  3. Assist in identifying root causes of recurring maintenance issues and recommend corrective actions.
  4. Respond to urgent equipment or facility needs while maintaining safe work practices and communicating status to appropriate personnel.

Leadership, Safety & Continuous Improvement

  1. Provide guidance to Level 1 technicians on routine fabrication, maintenance, documentation, and safe work practices when requested.
  2. Communicate material, tooling, safety, and equipment needs to the Maintenance Team Lead or appropriate personnel.
  3. Support continuous improvement activities related to production flow, fixture reliability, workplace organization, and preventive maintenance effectiveness.

General & Other Duties

  1. Other tasks as requested or required by Management.
  2. Possible off-shift winter grounds maintenance, as requested.
