Purpose: TThe Massachusetts Next Generation (NG) 911 team is seeking a Sr. Field Technician Support to provide technical support to Public Service Answering Points (PSAP) in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
The tasks include installation, configuration, maintenance, and servicing of communications systems and equipment, servers, workstations, and the associated electronic equipment at Public Service Answering Points (PSAP) in the State.
Responsibilities:
<ul>
<li>Resolve operational issues in the field in coordination with the Network Operations Center by going on-site to PSAPs for technical support, troubleshooting and repair; escalating issues as needed.</li>
<li>Provide on-call coverage (weekday nights and all day on weekends).</li>
<li>Perform on-site preventive maintenance tasks (cleaning, inspections, and repair) for all workstations, servers, and equipment as scheduled.</li>
<li>Support the deployment of new customer sites (PSAPs) as well as move/changes of existing PSAPs that form part of the Next Generation 911 system.</li>
<li>Coordination with subcontractors</li>
<li>Participation in construction meetings with general contractors and representatives of the customer</li>
<li>Put together Statements of Work and Basis of Estimate for deployment and move tasks</li>
<li>Function as the technical lead on-site and supervise subcontractor personnel during PSAP site deployments/moves</li>
<li>Perform the installation, configuration, and testing of various electronic equipment according to the established checklists and procedures (equipment includes routers/switches, managed PDUs (Power Distribution Unit), Windows workstations, IP telephones, IP to serial converters, among others)</li>
<li>Provide timely and accurate project status updates to the management team and the customer</li>
<li>Update work status in web-based ticketing system (tracking preventive maintenance work as well as troubleshooting work)</li>
<li>Maintain inventory and spare equipment stock.</li>
<li>Participate in special projects as required.</li>
</ul>
Qualifications:
<ul>
<li>Associate levels in technical field (networking, IT, workstations), or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications, training, or work experience.</li>
<li>3-5 years of related experience in the installation, configuration, and testing of IP networking equipment and systems.</li>
<li>Effective communication skills.</li>
<li>Familiarity with Windows, Linux, server virtualization, Cisco routing/switching preferred.</li>

Summary / Objective: This team provides support in the areas of Administration, Program Management, Engineering, and Logistics Programs associated with life cycle maintenance, modernization, and modification of Naval ships, unique platforms, new construction units and support facilities for Submarine Maintenance Engineering, Planning and Procurement (SUBMEPP), an independent field activity of the Naval Sea Systems (NAVSEA) Command that is aligned under Program Executive Office Attack Submarines (PEO SSN). SUBMEPP's mission is to keep assigned Naval ships and submersibles safe, reliable, and affordable through use of its engineered life cycle maintenance and modernization products and services. SUBMEPP performs technical duties and responsibilities to provide and maintain engineered life cycle maintenance products in direct support of the Fleet, shipyards, industrial facilities, and NAVSEA. General Duties or Experience: This position will assist with the review of Technical Work Documents (TWDs) from current CNO Availabilities to determine whether the maintenance accomplished satisfies the requirements of SUBMEPP Maintenance Standards/Requirements identified in each Availability Work Package (AWP). <li>Review Engineering and technical documentation to determine compliance with engineering standards, technical accuracy, and adequacy in relation to functional, operational, and technical requirements.</li>

<li>Perform engineering analysis, reviews, studies and provide recommendations related to the development, interoperability, integration, operations, and use of Maintenance Standards during submarine system, subsystem, equipment maintenance.</li>
\n
<li>Review, analyze, maintain, draft, validate changes to technical submarine maintenance documentation.</li>
\n
<li>Perform Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) analysis on new and existing maintenance requirements. This ensures the systems maintain high safety, reliability, environmental compliance, and operational readiness at the most effective cost.</li>
\n
<li>Collaborate with the customer and various organizations, offering in-depth research and data analysis to improve engineering documentation and provide informed technical feedback.</li>
\n
<li>Provide administrative functions for program efforts in special situations including, but not limited to meetings, and preparing/maintaining history files.</li>
\n</ul>
\n Required Education and Experience: 
<ul>\n
<li>High School Diploma or Accredited GED equivalent. </li>
\n
<li>Bachelor of Science (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering may be substituted for relevant experience requirement.</li>

<li>Required years of professional experience as an Engineering Technician:
<ul>\n
<li>Engineering Technician III - 3 years </li>
\n
<li>Engineering Technician IV - 7 years </li>
\n
<li>Engineering Technician V - 10 years </li>
\n
<li>Engineering Technician VI - 12 years</li>
\n</ul>

\n</ul>
\n Preferred education and experience: 
<ul>\n
<li>Bachelor of Science (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering.</li>
\n
<li>Familiarity with Maintenance Standards and submarine Hull, Mechanical, and Electrical (HM&amp;E) systems is a plus.</li>
\n
<li>Current or recent shipyard submarine availability maintenance experience and be familiar with availability work packages and tracking metrics.</li>
\n
<li>Experience as a PQS Worker, Work Center Supervisor, or 3M Coordinator within the Navy's maintenance system.</li>
\n
<li>Familiarity with the Navy's Planned Maintenance System.</li>
\n
<li>Familiarity with engineering documentation standards and quality assurance practices.</li>
\n
<li>Adept at learning new systems and terminology</li>
\n</ul>
\n Competencies: 
<ul>\n
<li>Proficient in using Windows PC and the MS Office Suite.</li>
\n
<li>Knowledge of submarine equipment and systems (a plus).</li>
\n
<li>Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret technical documentation and data.</li>

<li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with teams and reporting.</li>

<li>Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.</li>
