 Responsible for all areas of Quality Engineering on customer programs. Amphenol PCD is seeking a Design Quality Engineer to join our Quality team based in Beverly, MA. The Design Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring that aerospace-grade electrical connectors meet rigorous quality and regulatory standards throughout the design and development lifecycle. This role plays a critical part in driving design assurance, supporting qualification efforts, and ensuring product reliability for high-performance, mission-critical aerospace applications.
Essential Functions
<ul>
<li>Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Design, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Test Engineering) to ensure quality is integrated into the connector product design process</li>
<li>Conduct Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) and support Process FMEA (PFMEA) for new and existing connector products</li>
<li>Define product qualification plans and support environmental and mechanical testing in accordance with industry and customer standards</li>
<li>Lead root cause investigations and implement corrective/preventive actions (CAPA) for design-related nonconformities</li>
<li>Support first article inspections (FAI) and compliance documentation per AS9102 and customer-specific requirements</li>
<li>Participate in design reviews, ensuring conformance to internal and external standards</li>
<li>Develop and maintain quality plans, inspection instructions, and control plans tailored to aerospace connector applications</li>
<li>Interface with customers and suppliers on technical quality matters, including resolution of issues and participation in audits</li>
<li>Monitor design validation metrics such as reliability, test coverage, and defect trends, recommending continuous improvements</li>
<li>Perform additional quality-related duties as required by the Quality Manager</li>
</ul>
Required Qualifications
<ul>
<li>Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering</li>
<li>3+ years of experience in quality or design engineering roles focused on aerospace connectors or similar electromechanical components</li>
<li>Solid knowledge of aerospace quality systems and standards, including AS9100 and AS9102</li>
<li>Proficiency with quality tools (FMEA, 8D, 5 Whys, SPC, MSA) and familiarity with industry-specific tools like APQP and PPAP</li>
<li>Ability to interpret technical drawings (GD&amp;T), material specifications, and electrical schematics</li>
<li>Experience with environmental and mechanical testing (e.g., thermal cycling, vibration, mating cycles)</li>
<li>Strong interpersonal, organizational, and project management skills</li>
</ul>
Preferred Qualifications
<ul>
<li>Experience with connectors used in harsh environments </li>
<li>Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or higher) or equivalent quality certification</li>

Proven experience programming CMM and managing/designing ISO 9001 is required.
SUMMARY
The Quality Engineer will leverage your technical expertise and knowledge of quality assurance to help drive continuous improvement in a collaborative environment which foster team growth.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
<ul>
<li>Collaborate with department managers as needed to provide technical support for quality-related issues, conduct detailed root cause analysis, and implement effective solutions.</li>
<li>Represent Quality when working cross functionally with manufacturing engineers, production teams, other departments, and senior management to implement best practices, participate in procedure updates, and ensure quality standards are being followed.</li>
<li>Creating CMM programs ensuring they run properly and provide accurate reports. Providing guidance and mentorship to the Quality Technician as it relates to running programs and learning the system.</li>
<li>Participate in addressing noncompliance and nonconformance issues, writing nonconformance reports and performing root cause analysis. Where possible implementing corrective actions or proposing corrective actions to department heads. Ensure corrective actions are implemented effectively. Contribute in monthly MRB meetings and FAI reviews.</li>
<li>Enter and monitor customer complaints, assist with documenting the problem and ensuring the customers needs have been met. Work with Sales and Service when to customer equipment needs to be returned and/or a replacement needs to be ordered. </li>
<li>Work with Quality Technician and Manufacturing Engineers to create inspection plans for incoming material.</li>
<li>Stay current with new inspection technologies and techniques and recommend improvements to the inspection process.</li>
<li>Assist in overseeing supplier quality management, working with suppliers when corrective actions need to be taken and ensuring their compliance to regulatory requirements.</li>
<li>Support calibration process, running reports and preparing items to be calibrated either internally or by a third-party. Update calibration records ensuring compliance and accuracy.</li>
<li>Schedule and participate in internal and third-party audits as necessary. Audits include PED/ATEX/3A and ISO 9001. Review reports, generate corrective actions and follow through with implementation.</li>
