Granite State Manufacturing (GSM) is seeking skilled Class B Welders to join our precision fabrication team on first shift.
This position is ideal for welders with prior experience in defense or high-specification fabrication who are developing toward full NAVSEA 1688 or EB-5341 certification. You’ll contribute directly to the U.S. Navy submarine program and other advanced defense manufacturing initiatives.
About the Opportunity
As a Class B Welder, you’ll perform production and intermediate-level welds under the direction of senior welders and supervision. GSM utilizes GTAW (TIG), SMAW (Stick), and GMAW (MIG) processes on materials such as stainless steel, HY-80/100, and other defense-grade alloys.
You’ll work from detailed drawings and weld symbols, perform fit-ups and welds that meet internal GSM quality standards, and support production flow in accordance with the schedule (IAW schedule) to maintain throughput and compliance with customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities

<li>Ensure proper setup, operation, and maintenance of Welds to maximize efficiency and extend equipment life.</li>
<li>Work with NDT and other teams to resolve issues impacting production flow.</li>
</ul>
Quality &amp; Compliance:
<ul>
<li>Ensure all work complies with AS9100, ISO 9001, NAVSEA, and customer requirements.</li>
<li>Partner with Quality Inspectors to address nonconformances, corrective actions, and continuous improvement efforts.</li>
<li>Promote a culture of quality and accountability across the Weld.</li>
</ul>
Continuous Improvement:
<ul>
<li>Identify and implement Lean practices to improve workflow, reduce waste, and increase throughput.</li>
<li>Monitor process performance and lead root cause/corrective action initiatives for recurring issues.</li>
<li>Recommend tooling, fixturing, and process improvements to enhance productivity and quality.</li>
</ul>
Safety &amp; Communication:
<ul>
<li>Champion a safe work environment and ensure compliance with all OSHA and GSM safety standards.</li>
<li>Maintain effective communication with machinists, operations leadership, and other departments.</li>
<li>Provide clear status updates on jobs, machine availability, and resource requirements.</li>
<li>Demonstrates responsibility and accountability for creating a professional, safe, and clean environment evidenced by: being at work on time to perform assigned duties, following the policies of Granite State Manufacturing, always wearing safety glasses in designated areas, maintaining a neat and orderly work area, and following safety practices to prevent errors.</li>
<li>Demonstrates commitment to teamwork by establishing effective relationships and networks with both managers/directors and staff, collaborating with them to accomplish shared purposes and goals.</li>
<li>Abides by GSM Code of Ethics and Business Conduct standards and strictly observes all U.S. and foreign laws and regulations.</li>

Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
<ul>
<li>5+ years of welding experience, including setup and operation of Welds.</li>
<li>Previous supervisory or team lead experience in a welding environment required.</li>
<li>Strong knowledge of welding processes, tooling, G-code, and blueprint reading.</li>
<li>Familiarity with AS9100, ISO 9001, and defense/aerospace quality standards.</li>
<li>Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., M1) and Microsoft Office Suite.</li>
<li>Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.</li>
<li>Ability to coach, mentor, and develop machinists across skill levels.</li>
