The Tutor is a dynamic, collaborative, and results-oriented service provider who will partner with foster care-involved youth and their caregiver(s) to support them as youth build literacy, social, and emotional skills. The Impact You'll Create
This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing and engaged team to work toward closing the opportunity gap for foster care-involved youth. RISE offers an innovative solution, turning the typical model on its head. With tutoring and other educational supports specifically designed around the unique challenges faced by foster care-involved children, RISE is a home-based service that follows children as they move and incorporates supports for any caregivers involved in a child’s life (e.g. foster parents, biological parents, kinship caregivers). This provides children with continuous academic support, even as they experience changes in their placement and permanency goals. RISE launched during the 2021-22 school year and is currently supporting students in kindergarten through 3rd grade in the Greater Boston area, and will be growing in size and scope in the coming years. 
 
 
Your Impact Will Include (Job Responsibilities) 
<ul>
<li>Implement assessment and intervention tools with an in person tutoring caseload of K-3 youth and their caregiver(s). o Use standardized assessment tools (literacy, social and emotional learning) to continuously measure youth skills and learning gaps.
<ul>
<li>Observe and assess youth’s home environment to identify and engage in opportunities for improving learning (e.g. creating a cozy and relatively quiet nook to read for fun).</li>
<li>Collaborate with RISE Education Support staff to assess and develop a plan to address any needs for additional learning supports (e.g. an IEP that would benefit a youth and is not yet being provided). </li>
<li>Collaborate with RISE Literacy Program Manager and Tutor’s supervisor to individualize RISE curriculum learning routines and approaches to best meet each youth’s educational needs based on assessment and observation data, as well as information and feedback from caregivers, school staff, and other providers. </li>
<li>Implement individualized version of core tutoring curricula through frequent, in person, one-on-one tutoring sessions with youth, typically in their home. </li>
<li>Ensure high fidelity of the RISE curriculum model and employ a trauma-informed approach. </li>
<li>Partner with RISE Education Support staff (where appropriate) to communicate and collaborate with caregiver(s) about youth’s progress and about how they can best promote youth’s educational progress. </li>

<li>Communicate regularly and collaborate effectively with community providers, including but not limited to school staff, Department of Children and Families staff, and mental health providers.</li>
<li>When appropriate, partner with RISE Education Support staff to participate in meetings related to a youth’s educational goals (e.g. IEP meetings, informal school conferences). Communicate about youth’s needs and goals and uphold youth’s rights before, during, and after the meeting.</li>
<li>Complete documentation including, but not limited to, intake paperwork and consents, needs assessments, service plans, case notes. </li>
<li>Actively participate in program and agency internal (e.g. collaborating with colleagues, staff meetings, town halls) and external meetings (e.g. collaborating with other providers, schools) both in person and virtually as assigned. </li>
<li>Other duties as assigned. RISE is a brand new program, and as such, the program model will be subjected to a continuous cycle of analysis and assessment as it launches. We are currently hiring for both full-time and part-time Associate Teacher positions at The Nest Family Center. No weekend work required.
Full-time shifts are typically 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM or 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
Part-time options include 8:00 AM – 1:00 PM or 12:30 PM – 5:30 PM, Monday through Friday. 
As a full- or part-time Associate Teacher, you'll arrive each day ready to support a stimulating and safe educational environment, in alignment with New Hampshire state regulations. Under the guidance of the Lead Teacher, you'll implement developmentally appropriate activities that spark curiosity and support growth in every child.
You'll engage meaningfully with children, foster positive peer interactions, and maintain open communication with families - keeping them informed about their child's progress and responding to questions with care. You'll also work closely with your fellow educators to ensure a cohesive, collaborative classroom experience.
In addition to all the fun and learning, you'll help keep the center clean, organized, and safe - always keeping a watchful eye on the well-being of each child in your care.

<li>At least 18 years old</li>
<li>Have a high school diploma or equivalent</li>
<li>Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and play with kids</li>
<li>Ability to follow NH child care rules (CPR/First Aid, training, etc.)</li>
</ul>
You'll need to meet one of these minimum qualifications from the state:
<ul>
<li>Worked as an associate teacher before Nov 6, 2017</li>
<li>Took 9 college credits in child-related classes (one must be about child development)</li>
<li>Certified as a Para II educator</li>
<li>Have 1,000 hours of child care experience and took a 2-year high school teacher course OR took a college class in child development OR did 30 hours of approved training OR have life experience working with kids (like teaching, camp counselor, etc.)</li>

The Associate Teacher position is responsible for upholding and implementing the BGCCNNH mission, supporting children and teachers, and ensuring the health and safety of the children. Some key responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: actively engaging with children, assisting with cleaning and organizing the classroom, and documenting child observations. Must present interest in and willingness to learn child development and health and safety practices. Duties Prepare Youth for Success •Creates an environment that facilitates the achievement of Youth Development Outcomes. • Responds sensitively to the interests, requests, and needs of individual children, interacts positively with children, encourages exploration, and uses positive child guidance strategies. • Provide guidance and role modeling to Club members by planning and outlining curriculum to meet the individual needs of youth by incorporating elements of an emergent curriculum. • Establishes and maintains program goals to ensure the health and safety of all members. • May ensure the evaluation of Club programs continually, including tracking outcome metrics; verify that programs/activities respond to member needs and address their gender andcultural diversity. • Uses child observation notes as a tool for curriculum planning, keeps accurate and up-to-date • Continuously accounts for the members in their assigned group by name and face. • Oversees implementation of NAEYC standards and GSQ (when applicable), Culture DNA code, as well as BGCCNNH and CCLU rules and policies regarding safety, compliance, and best practices. • Dispenses medications according to company policy, administers first aid as needed; communicates all occurrences to families. • Oversees and assists in cleaning, organizing, and maintaining classroom well-being and upkeep. Program Development, Implementation, and Supervision • Oversees proper record-keeping and weekly reporting, including activities and events conducted in themembership/finance system. Will provide data for input to a Center Director or other applicable staff. • Facilitates open and effective, professional verbal and written communication with families, staff, and children. • Supervises classroom staff, students, and volunteers; provides regular feedback about job performance. • Supports volunteers, practicum students, and staff through modeling techniques and strategies that connect theory to practice. • May lead planning meetings with the teaching team. • May increase the visibility of Club programs via daily schedule postings, announcements of upcoming events through different social media channels, family emails, etc. • Other duties as assigned. Requirements •Must be an associate teacher qualified before November 6, 2017, have a minimum of 9 credits in related coursework or have a minimum of 1000 hours of supervised child care experience in a licensed child care program, and knowledge of child growth and development obtained through one of the following: a. Completion of a high school level 2-year career and technical education course in teacher education; b. A 3-credit college course in child or human growth and development; c. Thirty hours of training in child growth and development, granted by an accredited college or university, an authorized provider of the International Association for Continuing Education and Training, or obtained through documented life experience, including experience with the same age children, the associate teacher supervises, such as a family child care provider, service as a foster parent, work as a school teacher, work as a camp counselor and experience as a group leader for children in sports or other activities, such as scouts or little league, or closely related experience. 
•Must be 18 years of age or older. •Knowledge of current methods, principles, and techniques of teaching. •Knowledge of curriculum development and application. •Ability to plan and implement quality programs; proven track record of creative and artistic teaching strategies. •Ability to form developmentally appropriate relationships with children and promote positive behavior. •Ability to motivate members and manage behavior problems with patience. •Ability to organize and supervise members in a safe environment. •Ability to communicate with staff, families, and community members in a variety of methods. •Must be willing to maintain the Club dress code appropriate to assigned duties and responsibilities. •Must be willing to adapt to different learning styles. •Must obtain CPR and First Aid Certifications per Bureau of Childcare licensing requirements. •May be required to drive the Club van/short bus periodically. •Must possess a safe driving record and submit a copy of such record to either the Operations Director or human resources department. •Required to assist in cleaning and organizing the Club. •Must maintain confidentiality. •Must be willing to travel between locations when requested.
