Position Summary
The Mechanical Technician - Suppression will be responsible for functional and development testing of fire suppression systems and assist Mechanical and Fire Protection Engineers with test setup, test execution and documentation. Performs research and engineering laboratory functions involving the layout, building, testing, troubleshooting, repairing and modification of fire suppression systems and the associated auxiliary equipment. Strong emphasis on supporting product testing including system discharge tests, fire extinguishing tests and mechanical hardware tests. Majority of activity is in collaboration with engineers and other technicians across a broad range of projects. Support of some testing will be required in an outdoor environment at our test facility in Holliston, MA. 
Specific responsibilities for this position include:

<ul>
<li>Work under limited supervision to provide technical support and task ownership to Suppression engineers on a variety of engineering tasks.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Set-up of fire test configurations, associated fire suppression equipment and installation of piping networks. </li>
<li>Fill and pressurize test cylinders; Recondition cylinders and valves. This work periodically requires moving and lifting components in excess of 50 lbs. with the proper equipment and procedures.</li>
<li>Conduct discharge tests and fire tests.</li>
<li>Maintain equipment and tools in safe operating condition and support timely calibration tracking.</li>
<li>Collaborate with colleagues to maintain and manage inventory of key suppression equipment and assemblies </li>
<li>Interface with Machine Shop, Facilities, and EH&amp;S Dept’s to support Engineering initiatives. </li>
<li>Instrumentation preparation and troubleshooting.</li>
<li>Actively participate in, and maintain strict compliance to, all company Policies and Procedures.</li>
<li>All other duties as assigned.</li>

Required Experience:

<ul>
<li>AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training) or 3-5 years of relevant mechanical/industry work experience. </li>
<li>Hands-on experience with pressurized equipment </li>
<li>Proficient in use and operation of mechanical lab/shop tools/equipment</li>
<li>Experience documenting test results and communicating results to internal customers.</li>
<li>Able to read and interpret engineering drawings, electrical schematics, test data, test procedures and specifications. </li>
<li>Able to quickly adjust to shifting priorities, perform and deliver in a fast-paced environment.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Must be self-motivated as well as team-oriented with the ability to work efficiently and safely in a laboratory environment with minimal supervision.</li>
</ul>

Preferred Experience: 

<ul>
<li>Experience documenting test procedures and communicating results to internal customers.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Solid written and verbal communication skills.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Proficient in use of Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel software.</li>
<li>Experience with test facility and equipment maintenance and management.</li>
<li>Familiarity with the use of Data Acquisition Equipment, i.e. National Instruments Lab View.</li>

Position Summary
Our Health &amp; Human Performance group is seeking an Electrical/Mechanical Engineer to be part of a multi-disciplinary team working on a wide range of commercial, military, and medical technology projects. This opportunity seeks an individual who combines knowledge, skills, and interests from multiple engineering disciplines and will provide opportunities for growth in a fast-paced environment. Working collaboratively with a diverse group of engineers and scientists to solve technical problems will be a major part of your position. The work will vary but will likely include creating and utilizing integrated prototyping and fabrication projects, data collection systems potentially with automated controls, sensors, software, coding, and data analysis. We seek an individual with a passion for developing advanced technologies and translating them into real-world applications. You will also be asked to contribute to and even lead grantsmanship efforts for future potential projects that will both leverage and expand your capabilities.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will report to a senior engineer in our Health &amp; Human Performance Group and will support team efforts on multiple government and commercial contract R&amp;D programs. Potential collaborative responsibilities include:

<li>Ideate, design, and fabricate mechanical, electrical, and software prototypes, devices, and systems including both virtual/simulated and physical realizations</li>
<li>Evaluate function by designing, creating, and operating hardware and software systems for automated control and measurement</li>
<li>Generate and/or follow test procedures, conduct and document experiments, and produce detailed and summary analyses of results</li>
<li>Write proposals for new projects and produce content for reports and presentations to brief customers</li>
</ul>
Educational Requirements
<ul>
<li>BS/MS in Computer Science, Electrical, Mechanical, Biomedical, or equivalent engineering discipline; Multiple Degrees or Minors/Concentrations preferred</li>
<li>5-10 years of experience (employment, projects) in product development, process automation, software development, programming, prototype creation, fabrication techniques, robotics, and/or test and measurement desired</li>

<li>Competency using test equipment including multimeters, oscilloscopes, function generators, power supplies, etc.</li>
