Job Description
Mitsubishi Electric Research Laboratories (MERL) invites qualified candidates to apply for the position of Research Scientist in the Multiphysical Systems Group. Current areas of interest include physics-based modeling and numerical simulation of thermofluid and mechatronic systems, control system design and development, nonlinear state estimation, and applications of machine learning. Successful candidates will be expected to perform original, relevant research in the areas of nonlinear state estimation and system inversion for complex multiphysical systems.
The Multiphysical Systems Group at MERL conducts fundamental, academically-oriented research in model-based design and analysis of complex multiphysical systems, emphasizing thermofluid, electrical power, and mechatronic applications. Using state-of-the-art languages, we construct system-level dynamic models and use them to design new estimation and control algorithms, analyze dynamic behaviors, optimize product performance, and prototype new products and services that are enabled by these tools and methods. Current research interests include data-driven optimization and estimation for large-scale, nonlinear system models, development of next-generation tools for scientific computing, and design and analysis of robust nonlinear control and model predictive control. Specific areas of interest include state and parameter estimation for physics-based models comprised of hybrid (discrete and continuous state) nonlinear differential algebraic equations, particle filtering and ensemble estimation methods, variational methods for data assimilation and model inversion, and other cutting-edge estimation technologies. The successful candidate will bring an independent research agenda and a track record commensurate with experience and be capable of working within interdisciplinary R&amp;D teams.
Responsibilities for this position include:

Qualifications for this position are:

<li>A Ph.D. or equivalent from an internationally recognized institution in mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, electrical engineering, applied mathematics, or other related fields, with a focus on estimation, control theory, and/or data assimilation</li>
<li>Extensive experience with physics-based modeling, simulation, and dynamic analysis of multiphysical systems</li>
<li>Expertise in thermofluid systems is preferred, but background in mechatronic or other systems will also be considered</li>
<li>Strong programming skills, in at least some of Julia, Modelica, C/C++, Python, and Matlab</li>
<li>A strong publication record in leading conferences and journals, consistent with experience</li>
<li>A record for independently proposing and executing research programs with academic impact</li>
<li>Strong teamwork, communication (oral and written), teaching, and listening skills</li>

The pay range for this position at the commencement of employment is expected to be between $135,000 and $170,000 per year. Actual base pay will depend on a variety of individualized factors, including job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
In addition to base salary, the total compensation package will include an annual performance-based bonus and a comprehensive benefits program encompassing medical, dental, and vision coverage; a generous 401(k) match; commuting and home office stipends and various paid time off programs (including vacation, sick time, personal and parental leave). Job Description:
The primary purpose of the Analyst I position is to Support Quality Control Microbiological testing of drug substances, raw materials and process intermediates in support of clinical development and commercial programs under cGMP and GLP guidelines, address excursions and conduct investigations.
 
Essential Job Responsibilities:
⦁ Attire gowning for Grade B/A manufacturing areas and collect EM samples for viable air, non-viable particulates, and surface viable samples.
⦁ Perform QC testing of samples for bioburden, microbial identification, growth promotion, and Endotoxin analysis.
⦁ Receive manufacturing samples for QC analysis, ship samples to the contract labs testing, review data for lot disposition.
⦁ Read and Review routine EM plates, lab testing data, logbooks, and documents for product release and trend reports.
⦁ Understand and follow aseptic behavior, good laboratory and manufacturing practices, and documentation.
⦁ Author/update laboratory procedures, protocols, and help in EM data trend reports.
⦁ Support cleanroom qualification, gowning qualification, aseptic process qualification, and personnel monitoring for manufacturing activities.
⦁ Initiate Incident reports for OOS results and work with the team to find a root cause and corrective actions.

Required:

We are seeking an individual who will perform routine single plex and multiplex immunohistochemistry in drug discovery programs. The successful candidate will work in a group providing research support in target validation, target distribution, animal model development, pharmacology, and exploratory safety studies. The position requires a PhD in Mechanical, Chemical Engineering, Fire Protection Engineering, or related fields with a strong fundamental background in combustion, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, material science and applied mathematics.&nbsp; Extensive experience in experimental methods in thermal fluids, material flammability, heat transfer, combustion/fire, and an understanding of associated numerical methods are required. Research experience with advanced laser diagnostics in flame, experimental measurement in turbulent flame, heat transfer and failure analysis of battery is desirable. Also needed are excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as demonstrated expertise in developing solutions to challenging technical problems.
