About the role
The Systems Engineering co-op will support the Mechanical and Test engineering teams. The intent of this role is to provide support for the testing of equipment under development and for sustaining engineering tasks. This role will report to the Test Supervisor who will provide guidance on the creation and execution of Engineering Test Protocols. The position may also support the greater engineering team with design or assembly work to support general development tasks.

PRIMARY PURPOSE: To design, develop, and document new products from concept through engineering release to production.
NATURE OF WORK: Reporting to the Design Engineering Manager, this position exercises discretionary decision making. This is a fast-paced working environment with typical projects going from concept to production in 6 months or less. The position requires a strong ability to work under pressure and excellent time management skills, as the candidate will often have to balance many tasks with competing deadlines.
Curtis product lines include cab enclosures for sub-compact tractors, UTV’s and golf cars, as well as tractor attachments, and snow removal equipment such as snow plows and spreaders. The ideal candidate will have an interest in areas such as outdoor power equipment and power sports. Typical materials used in the products include sheet metal, formed tubing, glass, thermoformed plastic, etc. Experience designing with these materials – particularly sheet metal – is desired.
ACCOUNTABILITIES: Working closely with project and manufacturing engineers, the design engineer will develop new products from initial concept through prototyping and full release to production. Using the latest release of SolidWorks and Enterprise PDM, the candidate will be responsible for creating 3D models, as well as detail drawings, weldment drawings, assembly drawings, etc. Bill of Materials (BOM), installation instructions, weld fixtures, and all other technical documentation is created by this position.
The candidate must be very well organized, as the documentation created in this role will subsequently be utilized by many other functions throughout the business.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education: BS in Mechanical Engineering.
Experience: Minimum 5 years SolidWorks experience creating 3D part models, assemblies, and detail drawings; SolidWorks PDM Professional experience desired.
Skills: Experience working with sheet metal, tubing, and the associated design requirements are preferred. Surface modeling skills and FEA experience desired.

Who You Are:

<li>5+ years of experience in robotics software engineering.</li>
<li>Proven experience building mixed-language (C++/Python) stacks for robotics systems.</li>
<li>Hands-on experience with sensor stacks, including RGB-D cameras, LiDARs, and IMUs.</li>
<li>Strong foundation in 3D coordinate transforms and linear algebra.</li>
<li>You are a "full-stack" robotics engineer. You don't just write the algorithm; you care about the driver that feeds it and the API that consumes it.</li>

Job Summary
This position is considered a training ground relative to Menemsha’s general policies and procedures. Within this position the individual will have the opportunity to develop their client service skills, communication skills, technical skills, overall project management skills, plus continued development of construction knowledge.
Individual must have the willingness to service client base and sales volume under the direction and guidance of Senior Project Management/Director of Construction. They must ensure compliance of procedures established by management regarding safety, profitability, scope, quality, and overall construction methods. They must have the ability to communicate to all levels of field personnel, client contacts and internal departments.
A primary goal of this position should be to develop and pursue continuous self-improvement within the field of project management, including but not limited to – estimating, budgeting, scheduling, negotiation, quality control, equipment, construction field management, superior communication, and client service.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
<ul>
<li>Coordination, Take-off, Procurement, scheduling, and logistics of Procurement items as needed (client specific) </li>
<li>Research permit availability/tracking and prepare, submit and/or record documentation for local municipality officers, as required. </li>
<li>Review, document and understand client contract terms. Manage to those terms and ensure adherence to mitigate Menemsha's Liability, (i.e.: Insurance, billing terms, weekly deliverables from team) </li>
<li>Secure Client, Landlord, Municipality Insurance certificates for project start upon Award. </li>
<li>Document Control- Monitor plan revisions, distribute to field, subcontractors, project team-as directed by PM.</li>
<li>Provide day to day support for field superintendents and Menemsha trade labor resources, as required to support PM, including on site. </li>
<li>Support project team with receiving &amp; processing project submittals for PM Review, as required. </li>
<li>Review/qualify project submittals and submit for architect or client approval, as required. </li>
<li>Secure/Release POs for Material, Finish purchases, as negotiated and directed by PM. </li>
<li>Research, negotiate and procure warehousing, as required. </li>
<li>Write/develop Trade/ Subcontractor for Minor Scopes of Work for contract execution, as approved by Project Manager for contract release. (Ex: Inclusive of cleaning, paint, minor flooring scope, FRP, insulation, bath accessories, doors, hardware, concrete cutting) </li>
<li>Qualify and Negotiate subcontractor labor and materials, within budget restraints as directed by PM - (Includes: minor, major, MEP, complex trades)</li>
<li>Reporting project schedule updates, % complete. Adjust schedule as needed throughout project duration. (PM review and approval) </li>
<li>Review RFIs, remitted by Field prior to submittal to Architect/Client, as directed to ensure that information is accurate and/or not contained within the construction documentation provided. </li>
<li>Track timeliness of responses for RFI's, change orders, submittals etc. to support project/program schedule. </li>
<li>Track Procurement Items and coordination, manage the schedule for shipping/delivery, as needed. </li>
<li>Support preparation of project/program specific reporting, as required by contract/client/internal. (I.e.: Weekly client reports, project schedule updates, program master schedule updates.), as directed. </li>
<li>Coordinate timely closeout of project. Track punch list items thru completion. Work with subcontractors, field supervisor for scheduling, as directed/needed. </li>
<li>Conduct site walks, progress/conditions, as directed. Communicate site concerns, issues. Partake in providing recommendations to rectify site issues. </li>
<li>Support project manager with identifying and preparing client change orders. Reviewing subcontractor documentation, scope, collecting appropriate documentation, preparing for submittal to client, post to job record, maintain, and track status of approvals. (PM review and approval). </li>
